The process for designing and producing custom, handmade invitations, announcements and cards starts with a consultation. Depending on the intricacy of your project, the consultation can involve anything from a general overview of what you want, to a complex discussion of various design elements you have in mind.
Basically, it is my intent during the consultation to get a better idea of you, your event, your style, your budget and any themes or colors you would like incorporated into your pieces. The initial consultation can take place in person, over the phone or (if necessary) by email.
Invitations and Announcements
Using the information garnered from the initial consultation, I will work on 2-3 rough designs that match your style and budget and present them to you within a week to 10 days. At this point in the process, after hearing the design options I have come up with, you decide whether to move forward with the design process. This is the point where a 50% deposit is secured.
Once the text of the invitations is finalized, I work on editing the designs until they are exactly to your liking. The goal is to approve a final design within 3-4 edits; any more than that, and I do start charging an hourly design rate of $20.
Once the final design has been approved, I take the remaining 50% balance and get to work on producing your invitations.
The design process, including edits, can take anywhere from 2 – 4 weeks and the production usually runs about 4 weeks as well, depending on what materials need to be sourced.
Custom Cards
After the initial consultation, I will work on a design that matches your style and present it to you within a couple of days. At this point, if you decide to move forward, we make any final changes and production starts on your card(s). The production process takes 2-3 days after which your order will be sent to you with an invoice payable upon receipt.
